Carole Douglis

Associate - writer

Carole Douglis excels as a science and technical writer, digital  content manager, and presentation training expert to help mission-driven organizations reach their  goals. Whether working with policy makers or professors,  conservationists or camel herders—she’s known for turning mind-numbing  data into clear and useful content. She makes policy documents  persuasive and transforms ho-hum pitches into have-to-hear ones. An award-winning science journalist, Carole wrote for the National  Geographic Society and leading magazines before turning to  communications. She speaks professional-level French, and spent over 10+ years in Africa with USAID, UNICEF, the UN Environment Program,  NGOs, and research institutes.

Carole’s portfolio includes case studies and success stories; media  releases and kits; annual reports; blog posts and Web content; policy  briefs, advocacy documents disguised as storybooks; health-education  comics; speeches and full-length books.  She  is grounded in  the positive, 'Yes-And' work of improvisational theater. She is the  founding director of Washington Improv Theater.
